COINTELPRO The Secret FBI Program The FBI is a government agency supposedly intended to protect American civilians from   the worst criminals imaginable, from domestic terrorists to serial killers. But who do you   run to when the FBI wants you dead? It may seem like the high-concept premise of the latest Jason   Bourne movie, but this was actually the terrifying reality faced by a number of political leaders   and public figures as a result of COINTELPRO – The FBI’s clandestine series of projects intended to   bring American activism to its knees. But what was COINTELPRO, really? When did it happen?   Who were its targets? And what terrifying, illegal methods were employed under its purview?  There’s only one way to find out, but be warned, by the time this video is over, the FBI won’t seem   like the brave crime-stoppers the movies often paint them as.

COINTELPRO The Secret FBI Program

Under COINTELPRO – which stands   for Counter-Intelligence Program – they were responsible for everything from psychological   warfare to cold-blooded murder, all committed against mostly non-violent individuals whose   greatest crime was questioning the system. Just how far the system will go to silence   these questions will alarm and terrify you, and at the heart of it all was FBI   Director J. Edgar Hoover, who opened a nightmarish Pandora’s box of government   overreach and illegal domestic espionage.The year is 1956, and the Red Scare is in full   swing. You don’t need to be an expert in American political history to know that mid-1950s America   was terrified of Communism. The threat of the bomb loomed large over the American psyche, and   Soviet spies and sleeper agents seemed to lurk in every shadow. Russia and the West were fighting a   culture war – and the US was scared it was losing. When someone is afraid, and backed into a corner,   there’s almost nothing they won’t do to protect themselves – whether the initial fear is justified   or not. The US needed bold strategies to fight the perceived Communist threat growing within their   own borders, and J. Edgar Hoover was on the case.He gave his underlings a sweeping directive to,   “expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize” any political groups deemed   too subversive for the FBI’s liking. Hoover had the tacit permission of President Eisenhower and,   soon after, President Kennedy. And Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy personally signed off on   a number of covert projects under the COINTELPRO banner. Of course, while every sinister government   project requires some enabling bureaucrats to sign all the permission slips, there always needs to be   some trigger-men willing to get their hands dirty and get the dastardly job done. In this case,

 

we have William C. Sullivan, Director of the FBI’s Domestic Intelligence Operations.  Sullivan’s first target was the Communist Party of America, who – on name alone – were obviously   no friends of the Cold War FBI. Some of the techniques used by the FBI to destroy the   Communist Party from the inside included having agents send threatening anonymous phone calls,   having the IRS constantly audit them, and sending in forged documents to sow dissent among the   party’s ranks. You’ll come to notice that this is a running theme among the COINTELPRO projects:   Using psychological warfare tactics to turn groups against each other, and alienate their   members. To this end, literally nothing was off the table: FBI agents infiltrating meetings and   posing as members to cause conflict, intelligence gathering for blackmail and extortion, and even   spreading rumours to increase the tension.Though compared to just how horrific and   violent their methods would later become, some blackmail and rumour-spreading is pretty quaint.  While the Communist Party was a perfect training ground for refining their domestic espionage   techniques, the activities that would make COINTELPRO infamous were perpetrated against   civil rights groups, starting in the late fifties and continuing through the sixties. Doctor T.R.M   Howard, a prominent Black surgeon, entrepreneur, and civil rights leader, was critical of the FBI’s   inaction on a number of infamous hate crimes – including the murders of Emmett Till and George   Washington Lee. This prompted Hoover to turn the dangerous attentions of Sullivan and his FBI   cronies to Black civil rights groups – starting with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference   – on the grounds that they were supposedly hotbeds of subversive Communist activity.

 

The Southern Christian Leadership Conference was just the tip of the iceberg, though.   During their fifteen-year heyday, COINTELPRO would infiltrate and attack the Black Panther Party,   Anti-Vietnam War organisers, feminist groups, environmentalist and animal rights groups,   the Nation of Islam, the Young Lords Puerto Rico Independence Group, and the American   Indian Movement. In their very minor defence, they did also take on the Ku Klux Klan, but   when you need to compare yourself to the Klan to have the moral high ground, you’re not doing well.  Perhaps their most infamous victims were two of the most well-known civil rights   leaders in American history: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm   X. It all gets a whole lot worse from here.In 1963, Dr. King gave his iconic “I Have A   Dream” speech during the March on Washington. While generations of people across the world   were touched and inspired by this incredible piece of history, the FBI were terrified.   Dr. King was dreaming too big for their liking, and they wanted to put him in his place – that   place being six feet below ground. Hoover ordered Sullivan to turn his attention to discrediting and   destroying King, and the movement he’d come to represent. Sullivan subsequently released the   horrifically racist statement, “In the light of King’s powerful demagogic speech. … We   must mark him now if we have not done so before, as the most dangerous Negro of the   future in this nation from the standpoint of communism, the Negro, and national security.”  The espionage began. King’s home and hotel rooms were bugged, and his phones were tapped.

 

The   FBI was listening intently to his every word for blackmail material that they could use to silence   King. You’re probably asking, “Silence him? As in, pressure him into discontinuing activism and   renouncing his beliefs?” To which we’d answer, “No. They wanted Dr. King to kill himself.”   In 1964, after years of collecting audio evidence of Dr. King’s marital affairs,   King was sent a “suicide package” two days before he was supposed to collect his Nobel Peace Prize.   The package included copies of the incriminating audio, as well as a truly horrifying letter.  The letter, while anonymous, is believed by some to have been written by Sullivan himself.   It’s a verbally-abusive screed that opens with, “KING, in view of your low grade, abnormal   personal behavior I will not dignify your name with either a Mr. or a Reverend or a Dr. And, your   last name calls to mind only the type of King such as King Henry the VIII and his countless acts of   adultery and immoral conduct lower than that of a beast.” The letter almost reads like the cruellest   internet comment you’ve ever seen, complete with a plethora of personal insults and spelling errors.  And much like an internet troll with a serious mean streak, the letter ends by attempting to   pressure Dr. King into committing suicide. It reads, “King, there is only one thing left for   you to do. You know what it is. You have just 34 days in which to do (this exact number has   been selected for a specific reason, it has definite practical significant. You are done.

 

There is but one way out for you. You better take it before your filthy, abnormal fraudulent self is   bared to the nation.” While, for legal reasons, they stop just short of straight-up saying “Kill   yourself or we’ll humiliate you”, the implications are crystal clear.  When King didn’t give in and take his own life, Cartha DeLoach, the FBI Associate Director at   the time, began leaking the incriminating evidence to every news outlet imaginable.   They were ruthless in their willingness to destroy reputations and lives to achieve their goals,   but things were going to get a whole lot worse.While they were trying to manipulate Dr. King   into taking his own life, the FBI were stoking the fires of tension among the Nation of Islam   and the Organisation of Afro-American Unity, both known for their association with civil rights   leader El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, better known as Malcolm X. Through COINTELPRO, the FBI widened   the rift between Malcolm X and Elijah Muhammed, leader of the Nation of Islam. After a sustained   harassment campaign involving infiltration, rumour-mongering, and the artificial elevation of   conflict, the disagreements between X and Muhammed turned deadly, and Malcolm X was assassinated by   some Nation of Islam gunmen. While the FBI denied “direct” involvement in the assassination, there’s   extremely credible evidence that their involvement in exacerbating the conflict lead to the murder.  As the 1960s drew on, The FBI intensified its COINTELPRO operations against prominent civil   rights groups, Dr. King and his associates in particular. This project was known as COINTELPRO   – BLACK HATE. According to a 1968 FBI memo, they feared that Martin Luther King Jr. was becoming   a kind of “Messiah”-figure, and would unite the various disparate civil rights group into a force   that could truly be reckoned with. If Dr. King ever decided to reject nonviolence and lead an   armed revolt, they would be in serious trouble. King was public enemy number one, but prominent   members of groups like The Black Panthers weren’t far behind. All of them had to go.  The FBI colluded with numerous police departments in cities with considerable Black Panther   presences, including San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Philadelphia, and Chicago.   They would coordinate raids into the homes of Black Panther members without warrants,   during which many of said members were shot dead by police. One particularly infamous example   is the assassination of Chicago Black Panther Party Chairman Fred Hampton. On December 4th,   1969, Hampton was drugged and incapacitated by deep-cover FBI infiltrator William O’Neal.   A Chicago PD tactical unit then entered his home at the FBI’s behest and murdered   Hampton in his bed in cold-blood.No crime was too cruel and no   tactic was too underhanded for COINTELPRO.

 

With the help of the colluding police departments,   the FBI was able to launch brutal harassment campaigns against figures in the world of leftist   politics and civil rights. Specific individuals like Elmer “Geronimo” Pratt, a Black Panther   Party leader, were accused of crimes they didn’t commit and arrested on false pretences. Evidence   was falsified, witnesses were intimidated, and legality was twisted to serve whatever purpose   the FBI wanted it to. Pratt spent 27 years in jail for a fallacious murder charge, just because he   was a member of the Panthers. Members of the KKK like Gary Thomas Rowe were kept on the FBI payroll   as informants, while still committing atrocities like the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing.  And this wasn’t an isolated incident. Under COINTELPRO, it was clear that the FBI preferred   hard-line white supremacist groups to Black liberation movements. They funded and supported   former members of 1960s far-right group “The Minutemen” in their goal to create the Secret Army   Organization – essentially a militant terrorist cell that fought against civil rights groups with   tactics of intimidation and outright violence. Hundreds if not thousands of potential enemies   of the FBI were spied on with everything from wiretaps to direct stalking techniques. They even   teamed up with the CIA in 1967 as part of their own domestic spying project, “Operation CHAOS.

The COINTELPRO reign of terror would consume the whole decade – a decade mostly known for flower   power, free love, and imported British rock. The whole program was so sprawling that even figures   like James Baldwin, Ernest Hemingway, and Muhammed Ali were on their list of enemies. Incidentally,   Muhammed Ali ended up being a major force in the end of the COINTELPRO operations, as his   1971 fight with Joe Frazier acted as a form of cover while activist group Citizens’ Commission to   Investigate the FBI broke into an FBI field office in Pennsylvania. The group stole critical files   on the COINTELPRO operations and blew the lid on the whole sordid affair, leading to considerable   scandal and shame for the FBI in the public eye.Within a year, J. Edgar Hoover had announced   that centralised COINTELPRO operations were officially over. And while the FBI has hardly   been squeaky clean since, the dissolution of the centralised COINTELPRO operations   was an undeniable win for anyone who likes the idea of living in a truly free country. Of course,   only a fraction of the files were stolen, and many of the files subsequently released by the   FBI have been heavily altered and redacted. The fact is, we will never know the full extent of the   FBI’s sinister activities between 1956 and 1971.But what we do know is that the FBI activities   under the COINTELPRO umbrella were some of the most terrifying and illegal in American history.

Groups who were simply exercising their quintessentially-American First Amendment   rights were attacked, defamed, arrested, and dissolved. And the people who formed these groups   were at best threatened and manipulated, and at worst murdered and pressured towards suicide. We   wish we could give you a more comforting ending, but instead, we’ll leave you with two questions:   What are the chances that COINTELPRO was an isolated incident? US Military Plan to Defeat an Alien Invasion

The first attack was an EMP blast that covered nearly the whole of North America,   plunging the world’s sole superpower into the darkness of the late industrial revolution.   Power systems across the US were immediately knocked out, and nearly every community in the   nation was plunged into darkness. A few special places, mostly military facilities, managed to   either avoid the worst of the EMP blast through a quirk of the terrain, or were hardened against it. Civilian planes dropped out of the sky, their onboard electronics completely fried. Military   jets however continued to be operational, as were the US’s large fleet of ground combat vehicles-   all of which had been designed for war on a nuclear battlefield   against the Soviet Union or Russia. High up in the atmosphere, the EMP   blast simply wasn’t close enough to destroy the electronics on their shielded hardware. The US had had a few weeks to prepare though, and almost immediately engineering crews moved into   position to fix what power systems they could. Restoring the entire national grid would take   years, so their efforts were focused on critical civilian and military infrastructure. Even then,   it would be weeks at minimum before power could be restored to even a tiny fraction of the US.

US Military Plan to Defeat an Alien Invasion

The alien spacecraft had been observed a little over a month and a half ago, first drawing the   curiosity of astronomers using computers to search the night sky. The computers noticed the   tiny dip in starlight as the giant craft crossed space and blocked out stars behind it, and soon   deep space reconnaissance radar was turned on the phenomenon confirming that a solid object   was indeed on an intercept course with earth. Any doubts on the object’s true nature were squashed a   few days later when the object began decelerating from its current speed at 5% the speed of light. Now with the object parked in high orbit over the earth,   the President of the United States along with the Joint Chiefs and his top advisors   discuss their strategy for repelling a hostile invasion of the earth by an alien species. The first to speak is the chief science advisor, confirming that the EMP pulse was an expected   first strike option against the United States, which as the world’s sole superpower was the   likeliest target to be struck first. The advisor then pulls up images of the object   made by combining direct visual observation from ground telescopes and radar telemetry,

 

revealing a long cylinder shape with a giant almost mushroom style dome at the front. The advisor points at the dome. This is good news,   he says, because this is exactly how we would cross space at very high speeds. The   Joint Chiefs are confused, how exactly is this strange feature of the spacecraft good news? The advisor clears his throat and explains. Reaching velocities of a few percentage points   of the speed of light is something well within our grasp today, but the biggest problem is shielding   a spacecraft from debris encountered in space. At such incredibly high speeds,   a pebble can strike a spacecraft with the force of hundreds of tons of TNT,   and while debris is extremely rare in the vacuum of space, it is not non-existent. Therefore,   a large shield at the front of a large, thin spacecraft is the best way to shield your vehicle. And because this is how we would do it, the advisor explains, then this means that our   alien invader’s technology cannot be too far ahead of our own. We have a fighting chance. The men and women who’ll decide the fate of the United States, and possibly the earth,

 

all look around the room at each other. A chance- any chance- is more than they had hoped for. The advisor once more clears his throat. Because their technology isn’t too far advanced from ours,   and they obviously want our planet intact since they are reluctant to simply drop   asteroids on our head from orbit, then I have a plan to win this war. Let me explain… A day after the EMP blast, ground based radar confirms activity along the main body of the   spacecraft. Several components are detaching from it and breaking up into smaller objects- transport   craft of some sort. Some though, are obviously combat craft, and these move to new orbits. The   US military however has already guessed what the aliens might do next, and they’re ready. From several hundred miles up, metal rods half the size of telephone poles   rain down on military installations across the US. The rods pack no explosives, instead relying   on the kinetic energy of their fall from space to deliver devastation on the scale of mankind’s   largest non-nuclear weapons. Military airfields, hangars, command and control nodes, supply depots-   metal rods rain down on these and other strategic targets, completely obliterating them. But the US was ready, and following protocols established long ago for a nuclear war,   had already widely dispersed its personnel and equipment. Many military aircraft and ground   combat vehicles are destroyed in the attack,

 

but many more survive, widely dispersed into the   surrounding areas and on the thousands of civilian and makeshift airfields all across the US. As the attack takes place, the President and his advisors,   secure in an underground bunker over a mile deep, monitor the situation through   dozens of redundant command and control networks. The US’s plans for a nuclear   showdown with the Soviet Union have created one of the most resilient nations on earth. The science advisor predicted this attack, and works to reassure his fellow colleagues. Because   the aliens aren’t too far advanced from us, he explains, they have many of the same limitations   in space travel that we do- even if they are much better at dealing with them than us. The economy   of space travel makes moving large amounts of equipment, like an invasion fleet, extremely   expensive, so the aliens are dealing with very limited assets. Our plan for victory is to simply   bleed the aliens dry, making an invasion of our nation so expensive in terms of manpower and   resources that the aliens are unable to continue the fight or it simply isn’t worth it anymore. The plan is solid, after all, the aliens had to bring everything to invade our world with them-   including their troops- while we here on earth can regenerate every soldier killed on the spot. The war will be one of long, ongoing resistance. The aliens may be limited in resources due to having to ferry them across interstellar space,   but they are still much superior to our own forces.

 

The US military thus makes the best use   of its assets in the short time that it will still be able to before they are inevitably destroyed. Within hours of the kinetic strikes, the troop transports and combat aircraft   begin to enter the atmosphere. Here, with their sensors blinded by the incredible heat of reentry,   is humanity’s best chance at striking with all available air and missile forces.   All across the world combat aircraft and air defense batteries move into action. Over the skies of the US, squadrons of F-22s, F-35s, F-16s,   and every other plane capable of taking on an interceptor role move to intercept   the incoming alien spacecraft. Heat-guided ground-based interceptors fire in large volleys,   guided to their targets by the unmistakable heat signature of the alien spacecraft entering the   earth’s atmosphere. The combat aircraft are next, firing radar and heat-guided missiles   in rapid succession at swarms of alien craft screaming through the atmosphere. The President had considered using nuclear weapons, but was talked down   by his advisors- the aliens had yet used weapons of mass destruction,   and using a nuke may be an invitation to a type of war the earth couldn’t hope to win. Conventional weapons are having a spectacular effect on the incoming alien craft though, and   cheers erupt in the President’s secure facility as the reports trickle in from all over the US.   Moving at such high speeds, the superior alien craft simply can’t avoid the incoming volleys,   or they’d risk tearing themselves apart, and despite whatever type of propulsion or   radar-absorbent materials they may be using, the signature of incoming spacecraft at high   speeds through the atmosphere is almost too easy a target for earth’s weapons. The victory however is extremely short lived.

 

America’s combat pilots were warned to immediately break off their attacks   once the spacecraft punched through the atmosphere, but for many it’s still   too late. Now within the atmosphere, the alien combat aircraft easily outmaneuver   and outrun even America’s best fighter aircraft, and casualties are in the hundreds within minutes.   Next, the combat aircraft strike at air defense batteries all over the US, easily destroying any   they encounter and calling in orbital strikes on those they can’t reach. More metal rods from   space obliterate air defense batteries across America- though their crews are long gone. The aliens now rule not just space, but the skies too. With alien transports disgorging combat troops by the thousands, America’s ground response is   mostly infantry-based. With space firmly in the alien’s grasp, more kinetic strikes would easily   obliterate large formations of armored vehicles. For the first time in modern history, the United   States doesn’t rule the skies, and has to fight much in the same way its adversaries have. In some places though, commanders are able to manuever combat vehicles to within very close   range of the enemy. Hugging the enemy, so to speak, forces the aliens to not use kinetic   strikes for fear of hitting their own troops. Forced to ferry all of their invasion equipment   from space, the alien forces are fielding very few combat vehicles of their own,   despite their infantry weapons being superior to man’s. Without combat vehicles,   American Abrams tanks and M2 Bradleys decimate alien forces where they encounter   them. No matter their level of technology, even aliens must obey the laws of physics,   and despite their advanced construction, the anti-tank silver bullet rounds of an   Abrams or lethal missiles of a Bradley, are extremely effective against the alien vehicles. Once more though, victories are short lived

 

as alien air forces who now have uncontested dominance of the sky,   do the job of close air support that orbital kinetic strikes simply can’t do. The alien’s numbers build by the day, and by the end of the week they have disgorged several   million troops on US soil. Then the shuttle flights slow down considerably. With the   ability to only bring a limited number of troops and equipment across the vast distances of space,   the aliens have clearly disgorged nearly all of their combat assets.   Their advanced technology will make up the shortfall in personnel. Or at least that was the plan. The aliens hail from a planet a hundred light years from earth,   making their observations of our planet a hundred years old, and their invasion   plans are based on fighting a civilization who’s planet exhibited the techno signature   of a late industrial age civilization. Then, moving at 5% the speed of light,   it took the invasion fleet another twenty years to arrive. That means the best knowledge the aliens   had on Earth’s level of technology was based on distant observations of Earth in the year 1900,   when the most advanced techno signature detectable was weak radio transmissions. Now they face humanity armed with automatic machine guns, man-portable anti-tank missiles,   electronic warfare suites, and extremely stealthy combat drones. The war of occupation is indeed costly, but the technological disparity still favors the aliens.   To offset their lack of manpower, the aliens turn to manufacturing combat drones of their own,   who can quickly self-replicate and overwhelm human forces. Within a few weeks,   the conventional war is over, and the US military is roundly defeated, unable to fight any longer. This is when phase 2 of the US’s victory plan over the aliens takes effect. Seasoned combat troops are ordered to disperse widely into the countryside, taking with them   as much military equipment as they can carry. American special forces operatives are amongst   those ordered to flee for the wilderness or the ruins of cities, and there they link up with other   military personnel and civilian survivors.Special forces operators initiate phase 2,   and begin training surviving combat troops and civilians in the art of resistance.   American forces are taught to hide from and fight a technologically superior enemy the same way   that the Taliban and the Vietcong resisted US might. A guerrilla war begins overnight,   with American survivors striking at alien supply depots and personnel barracks.   The goal is simple: destroy as much equipment as possible and kill as many aliens as possible   so that the invasion becomes too costly in the terms of lives and finances to continue. The guerrilla resistance lasts for years, despite horrific losses incurred by the human survivors.   Yet, humanity can quickly replace its losses, though it does mean that the traditional   societal norms of relationships have to be temporarily redefined. Men and women cannot   have a single sexual partner, and must have multiple in order to ensure genetic diversity,   and healthy women must produce children as often as possible.

 

The losses incurred by human guerrillas are staggering, and must be replaced. The aliens on the other hand must travel twenty years to bring fresh troops to the fight,   and each individual soldier transported over a hundred light years of space   costs their civilization a small fortune. The first wave of reinforcements costs the   aliens as much as the entire economic output of earth over an entire decade. There is no second wave of reinforcements. The trip is too long,   the cost far too great. Even a rescue mission to their forces stranded on earth   would be too expensive, and come far too late. What aliens are able to,   retreat back to their orbiting spacecraft, but most simply surrender to human forces.  For earth, the cost has been staggering and humanity has gone from a population of almost   8 billion to just over one billion. But the war has been won. Earth is free of invaders for the   first time in thirty years, and the survivors can once more rebuild their shattered nations.

 

Much as it has many times before, humanity will rise from the ashes, and should the aliens send   another invasion force in the future, they’ll meet a planet armed with their own advanced technology,   reverse-engineered for human use, and determined to remain free. Bihar Board 10th Result 2020: Bihar Board Matric Result Released, Thus Easy Online Check Results

 

The Bihar School Education Board today released the matriculation results. Students will also be able to check the results on  the official website of Bihar Board at 12.30 pm. Like Inter, the Bihar board is not holding any press conference for the result of matriculation. The results are being released online. Therefore, students will also be able to check easily through their roll number on mobile and computer. You have to register to check the results on live Hindustan.

The Bihar board matriculation examinations were held between 17th February to 24th February. Last year (2019) the results of matriculation came on April 6. 80.73 per cent students were nearby. A total of 68.89 per cent students passed the Bihar Board Matric 2018 exam. Last year, the result was much better. In 2019, about 12 per cent of the sdutens were more nearby. Sawan Raj Bharti of Sialtala topped the Bihar board in 10th. The first 5 ranked 8 students belonged to Sialtala. In the top 10 students, all the students except two belonged to Sialtala.

because a lot of people ask that question in the beginning of the interviewing process which is really unfair to the interviewee. You’re thejob seeker but they’re doing this to make sure that they’re not wasting their time with somebody who’s too expensive or even too cheap. So I’m going to give youthe answer to the two different ways that they may ask this question. Thefirst way they may ask the question is: “How much are you currently making?” or “Howmuch did you make in your most recent position?” The way to answer that is:”Well, I’ve actually been paid very well because I have done some really goodthings, I’ve gotten some great results. But, what I am expecting to make isreally an apples to oranges comparison between what I’ve made in the past andwhat I would expect to make at your company given the difference in responsibilities.

 

So really I need to find out more about the responsibilities so I know what the market is paying for that job. Can you give me a little bit more information about if there’s going to be budget Authority, if there’s a number of people that are reporting to this position? Yougo into some questions, you go that way. Okay, second way they may ask it instead of answering the apples to oranges comparison they may say: “So what are your salary expectations?” Now what they wantto know is how much does it cost to pay your bills? That’s not a fair question.The answer really needs to be based upon what is the market paying for that jobtitle, those job responsibilities, in that geographic location. One of the bestplaces to get that information is salary.comI love that website and it’s you can get information for free. So, the way toanswer what your salary expectations are: “Well, I’m at a point in my career whereI’m actually fortunate enough to make sure that a good fit is the most important thing to me. So I’m sure that if you and I can both come to anagreement or if you and I and the decision maker can all come to an-agreement that I’m the best fit for the position,

 

I’m sure we won’t have an issuewith compensation. We’re not going to have an issue with compensation.” And thenif they press you go: “Well is there a range that you’re wanting to pay forthis position?” and then if they give you that range,believe me you can say, yeah, there’s not going to be anissue with compensation, even if it’s too low for you because once you are thesolution to their problems and the bridge that’s going to take them towhere they want to be, in other words, you are the quintessential answer for whothey’re looking for, they will pay a lot more than what that original range isfor you.

Founder and CEO of Career Resume Consulting and today I want to give you the one thing the one secret that above anything else will help you get that all-important face-to-face interview, that face-to-face meeting with a decision maker okay. So this actually came from someone when I was doing a recent speaking engagement.I do speaking engagements and someone asked me if you were to give one piece of advice to someone on how to win a phone interview to get that face to face interview.

what would it be and I really had to think about that because not getting the face-to-face interview could leave you hanging and especially if youdon’t hear back from the recruiter or HR representative that you’re talking to oreven if you’re talking to the decision-maker on the phone but you never get past the phone call. So if that’s a problem foryou that really could result in you not getting a job for months and months. Asa matter of fact the average is 12 to 18 months to get a six-figure position in the United States these days in 2016. So I don’t want you to be that statistic. Want you to be able to move past that phone interview into the face-to-face interview so I want to give you the one piece of advice that I would give my best friend if they were to ask what would you say to help me get thatface-to-face interview? Here’s what it is, first understand that in a hiring process you are the sales person, you are also the product or service that you reselling.

 

Does that make sense? You are selling yourself so you are the salesperson. The number one piece of advice that I would give a salesperson if they’re not selling something is, I would ask them, well are you asking for the sale? So that’s what I want to ask you in the the phone interview. What you really are looking for is not the job. You can’t get a jobwith a phone interview. What you’re looking for is to move to a face-to-face interview. Really what you’re looking for is to leave that phone interview with aclear future. In other words, you and the other person on the phone know exactlywhat the next steps are and what the timeline is for those next steps. That’sreally what you want in a phone interview anyway right?

 

So you want toask for the sale with the sale being the face-to-face interview. So howdo you do that? Well there are a couple of differentways that you can phrase it. If you’re talking to the decision maker on thephone that’s best-case scenario, what you wantto do is at the end of the conversation you want to say well, You know I’vereally enjoyed talking with you today about this position and actually I’mmore excited about it then before we talked now that you’ve given me moreinformation about the position. I’m actually very enthusiastic about thepossibility of working with you. Is it possible to talk in your office nextweek sometime more about your needs and get into your needs in detail as far asthe needs of the company, the needs of the department, your needs, in particularwhat are you looking for and and what can I help you with and is it a good fit? I’d really like to talk with you in more detail about that. Is there atime next week that we can get together in your office to talk about this inmore detail? That’s it. Now that’s a soft sell and it is an easy way to make surethat something is on the calendar. Now sometimes you’re not talking with thedecision-makers. Sometimes you’re talking with an HR professional or a recruiter.In that case there’s a couple of different things that you can do. You canask,is it possible for me to sit down with the decision makersometime next week to talk about their needs, the needs of the company inparticular and what the needs of the department are.

 

And really wherethey want to take the department. Now with that, you probably are not going toget the yes, but it’s worth a try. However what you can do, is you can put in theirminds a decision as to whether or not you’re moving forward in the process andthe way that you do that is while you’re talking to them at the end as they’rewrapping up you say to them, Is there anything else that you need to knowabout me before you make a decision as to whether or not I move on in theprocess? And that’s worth repeating, let me say it again. Is there anything elsethat you need to know about me in order to make the decision as to whether ornot I move on in the process? So at that point they will either say, well actuallyyes there is one more thing that I need to know. And they’ll, you’re asking for clarification and they’ll give you that. Or even better, they’ll say, no Ithink I’ve got everything that I need to know at this time. And then you ask whencan I expect to hear from you next? And not what are the next stepsbecause what are the next steps is something that everybody else asks butif you ask “When can I expect to hear from you next?” if they say you shouldhear from me by next Wednesday, then your answer should be,

 

So if I don’t hear fromyou by say Thursday, can I give you a call?” and that way you’re getting theirpermission ahead of time to give them a call on Thursday if you don’t hear fromthem by Wednesday. Now keep in mind when you’re asking them is there anything else that you need to know about me before you make a decision as to whetherI move on in the process, what you’re doing is that you are somewhat forcingthem on an unconscious level to make a decision about you right then andbelieve it or not when they’re talking to you they have a better opinion of youthen after they get off the phone with you and so while they’re talking to youhave them make that decision because it’s probably going to be more positive.It’s going to be a yes and so when they say no I think I’ve got everything Ithink we’re good that probably means you’re moving on in the process andthat’s when you ask when should I expect to hear from you and then they will theywill probably know this is actually happen to a lot of my clients wherethey’ll initially say well we’ve got a lot of other people to talk to and we’vegot you know we’re in the beginning of the process and so it might take acouple of weeks before we get back with you but once they start asking thesequestions by the time they finished the the HRperson has finished answering those questions they’re saying you know.

So, What is the reason behind it ?Why even after having huge IT Tech Market, We struggle to arrange even an interview callfor us ? In AngularJS itself, we have multiple optionslike Angular2/4/5 and 6. So, Its really rare that whatever technicalexposure you are getting right now from wherever you are, recruiters are also looking for thesame specific technologies. So, In Nutshell, To get industrial experience in areas recruitersare demanding, You need to change your job. But, At the same time, Without getting industrialexperience in in-demand technologies, recruiters are not ready to offer you a job. And, this is what I mean by word IT deadlock. I have faced this situation when I was activelylooking for a job change. IT deadlock is main reason behind the struggleto get or to convert interview calls into job offers.

 

I was working with an IT Giant and what Ihave learnt by staying there – that I would like to share with you. Getting trapped into IT deadlock is very commonfor people who are working in IT Giants. Because of that, The technical environmentthat you get mostly consists of outdated legacy technologies. Hence, Skills you are acquiring has alreadylost its charm in the IT market. This fact does not just applies to developers. In Testing domain also this point is applicable. From Manual Testing to Automation Testing.and now Industry is moving towards DevOps Testing.

 

I am not saying that these legacy technologiesare not required to learn. What I want to say is knowing only these technologiesis not going to give you, your next job offer. The next major reason, is the comforting environment. Very few people you will find out in thesecompanies who are really really interestedin re-educating and pushing themselves. We all know that, IT World is changing atvery rapid rate. And, In IT industry re-educating yourselfon timely basis is necessity for survival.

 

Second Reason I would like to discuss is : Differencebetween Knowledge and Experience Image I have added here, clearly explain whatI want to say. Once we decide to change a job, we start analyzinghot and lucrative skills of Job market. And, than we learn those skills using books,web-content or on-line courses. But friends, Feeling our mind with informationby reading from a website or by watching videos, do not compensate hands-on experience advantages. Hands-on practice engages us with our technology,and helps us to digest core concepts. It gives us an opportunity to make mistakes. And, enhances our problem solving ability.
